From our research facilities to our manufacturing plants in Kliprivier, Laezonia and Meyerton, we keep a close eye on every stage of the design and production process so that all the CSS FabPanel® Hollow Core Slabs, Prestressed Ribs, Cement Ash Blocks, T Beams, Light Boxes, Lintels, Maxi Lintels, and if required, Anti-Crack Mesh & Reinforcement that you use are perfect for their intended purposes.

Pre-Stressed Ribs
Concrete is a wonderful material although it has a natural weakness in tension. Prestressed concrete allows this to be overcome and permits the use of longer spans that would not be possible with ordinary reinforced concrete. This has obvious benefits in the construction of suspended slabs.
The predetermined stresses that we place in our prestressed ribs counteract the stresses they will be subjected to once they are in position and bearing loads. This approach to concrete manufacture and design combines the compressive strength of concrete with the high tensile strength of prestressed steel.
"S" OR "N" Hollow Block Systems
Our hollow blocks and trays are manufactured to the highest international standards and are the last word in reliability. We produce two ranges of hollow blocks: the “S Range” and “N Range”, each designed for specific purposes and engineered to last.
Our quality control processes and the fact that we manufacture all our own hollow blocks means that we can guarantee consistent properties and 100% compliance with the published specifications.
Our “S Range” hollow blocks require a structural topping and mesh. The quality and strength of the blocks enables them to instantly bear surprisingly high ready-mix concrete loads during the concrete pour. Our “N Range” System, i.e.: N170 and N255 Blocks require only structural concrete between the blocks, except for the N150 which requires a 50ml concrete topping - no mesh required.
FabPanel® Hollow Core Slab
FabPanel® Hollow Core slabs are also known as voided slabs or hollow core planks. Essentially they consist of a precast slab of prestressed concrete. The tubular voids that extend the length of the slabs significantly reduce their weight as compared to solid slabs, making them more economical to manufacture and use. Hollow core slabs are typically used for floor construction in multi-storey buildings, and other applications where weight, cost, speed, and load-carrying ability must all be considered. Hollow Core slabs from CSS – known as FabPanel® - offer all these advantages, plus our guarantee of quality.
Our range of CSS FabPanel® Hollow Core slabs are manufactured in our own plants to exacting specifications. Available in multiple depths:120mm,150mm,170mm, 200mm and 250mm.
T-Beam Propless System
Our T-Beam "Propless" system comprises of prestressed inverted "T" beams and N170 structural hollow blocks. It can be used on spans up to and including 4.5m in length and is particularly suited to townhouse developments as an alternative to FabPanel® Hollow Core slabs. More innovation from CSS!
Our T-Beam Propless system is also used to overcome the challenge of poor soil substrate conditions, allowing the suspension of ground floor slabs above heaving clay and other difficult soil types. This prevents the need to bring fill material to the site and reduces the costs of retaining walls.
The T-Beam and N170 Propless system astonishingly uses approximately 4.5m3 for every 100m2 of 170mm deep slab, saving you half the amount of ready-mix concrete used on a normal 170mm Rib and Block slab.
Anti-crack Mesh & Reinforcement
Slabs constructed using our “S Range” blocks are supplied with an anti-crack mesh. The design allows for a generous 15% overlapping of sheets. Use of our anti-crack mesh & reinforcement helps to limit the width of any cracks that may appear in the 50mm concrete topping as a result of shrinkage.
